Learning to live thrifty and frugal has been my goal for years.? I look for ways to save on everyday items.? Being thrifty takes planning and budgeting.? I’ve collected thrifty tips that I love to share.? Here’s my collection on thrifty beauty tips.? Enjoy!
Drink lots of water and skip sodas.?(That’s good for more than just your skin!) Use less shampoo.?Some people suggest washing your hair every other day, although that is something I can’t do. Stop smoking.?It causes premature aging, besides the other bad things cigarette smoking does. Clip coupons for beauty products, especially for drug stores, where the products are already discounted. Use vegetable cooking spray to quick-dry nail polish. Baby lotion is an affordable body moisturizer. Witch hazel makes a great toner for oily skin. Get more sleep. BOGO – check for buy one get one specials at the drug store and department stores.?If your BOGO item has a long shelf life, stock up extras.?Same goes for items on sale. Use olive oil as a skin softening bath oil. Adding a cup of powdered milk to your bath also creates a soothing bath time. Check for coupons on toothpaste.?Try to never pay full price and use less on your toothbrush. Rinse your hair with vinegar to make it shiny and soft. Use Epsom salts for a thrifty and great foot soak. Save money and let your skin breath by not using makeup when you are staying at home. Buy inexpensive mascara.?The cheaper brand is usually just as good as the designer brands. Buy generic brands when you can. Use a homemade cleanser from milk and honey.?Use half-teaspoon milk powder and enough honey to make a paste.?Add a little water to make it spread easier.?Put on your face and massage into the skin to cleanse.?Rinse and pat dry. A slice of cucumber, left on your eyes for about 15 minutes, reduces puffiness.? Collect sample products, including using shampoos and soaps from your vacations. Use petroleum jelly for chapped lips. Petroleum jelly also works as a skin moisturizer and hand cream. Petroleum jelly makes a thrifty makeup remover and makes you skin soft too. I try not to wear pantyhose whenever possible, but I’ve heard that storing your hose in the freezer makes them last longer. Reduce stress.?? No magic potion here, but exercise, rest, and activities you enjoy can help. Not necessarily a thrifty or frugal tip, but discard makeup items after a year.?Bacteria can grow in containers and cause irritation and infections. Comparison-shop both in stores and on-line. Use less makeup.?A little goes a long way.

Use these tips to save money on beauty care – and come up with your own.
